The North Hays County Fire/Rescue dedicates a new custom fire engine, on Saturday, January. 28, 2012, at Noon at the Central Fire Station, 400 Sportsplex Dr. in Dripping Springs. The dedication event, including Wet Down and Push In Ceremony, is open to the public with hot dogs being served plus balloons and goodies for the kids.

Also on Saturday, The Barber Shop celebrates its first anniversary from Noon – 11pm. They will have special beers on tap (like original recipe Wytchmaker) as well as house brewed, cask conditioned ales, plus glass giveaways from different breweries. Enjoy live music from The Plainsmen and the Light Parade, plus fish and chips from British food trailer Bits and Druthers. The Barber Shop bar is located at 207 Mercer Street in downtown Dripping.

Dripping Springs Community Library gets into the action on Saturday at 1pm with Get Your Geek On!, a special afternoon event to celebrate things technical including a vintage science fiction book sale, hands-on electrical circuit building, Mindstorm and SumoBot robot demonstrations by the award-winning DSMS teams, and opportunities for young people to meet “the professionals”: mechanical engineer Sarah Lackey and Lightbox Interactive gameplay engineer Frank Force. The library is located at 501 Sportsplex Drive between Dripping Springs High school and nearby Walnut Springs Elementary School. All library activities are free of charge and open to any interested visitor. In order to ensure supplies for all participants, some activities do require registration. For more information about Get Your Geek On!, telephone (512) 858-7825 or visit DSCL.org for a complete schedule of all activities.

We were just in London on Mercer Street and eating British food. An experience we can recreate at The Barber Shop this Saturday.
